At Inside, rustic interior design really holds a special place in our hearts.

The definition of rustic style

"Rustic interiors are defined by ruggedness and letting natural beauty shine. The focus is to create a relaxing atmosphere by highlighting the use of wood, stone, leaves, and other organic elements. Rather than worry about perfect lines, rustic allows the character of each piece to stand out. From knots in the wood to rust on metal, this style celebrates character in a big way."

The principles

1. Natural textures
Wood is the most essential element of a rustic interior. It undeniably evokes an earthy and natural feel. Sometimes, rustic interior design also combines metals with woods to give a more 'minimal' enhanced rustic style.

2. Natural colour palettes
There is a tendency to think that natural palettes mean beige, white, or brown. But a natural colour palette can also include blue, green, and red hues! The possibilities are limitless.

3. Unrefined recycled furniture
What's truly special and authentic with rustic furniture is the fact that there are no perfect lines or patterns. Pieces are always unrefined (and most of the time recycled) which gives an authentic, raw feel of comfort.
